When the excitement is palpable, the energy is electric, and there are not enough hours in the day – you know IT’S SHOWTIME!
Over the next nine days we have three big events (count ’em, three) for which we’ve been busily preparing:
On Thursday night we’re packing up our 3D printer along with a bunch of 3D models and iPads and heading over to the MURSD Community iFair at Nipmuc. Student coaches will be there to assist visitors in designing for 3D printing. No iPad necessary, you may borrow ours which are pre-loaded with the apps we use in the 5/6 art classroom. Come see us!
Next up is the Annual Art In The Valley Regional Art Show sponsored by the Blackstone Valley Education Foundation. Fifteen of my students will have artwork on display including in various media including painting, drawing, ceramics, and 3D printing. The list of names and photographs of the students and their art will be released later in the week. This is a wonderful show every year! The opening is on Friday night (April 8) from 6pm – 8pm and the show is also open on Saturday, April 9 from 10am – 12pm. I hope to see you there!
Last, but definitely not least, our school art show will be held on Tuesday, April 12, from 6pm – 8pm. This show is always very exciting for us as we showcase the fine artwork of our students in all mediums including ceramics, painting, drawing, sculpture, 3D design, 3D printing, and more. This year, the art show will be held in conjunction with the Miscoe Electives Student Showcase (MESS) and will take place in the art rooms and in the art hallway. Along with the usual splendid array of artwork, this year there will be some interactive offerings including a collaborative art project for all ages as well as personalized, docent-led tours of our online gallery. Art from all terms will be on display and the young artists are excited to show you around!
That’s it from me for today – I’ve got shows to prepare for! I’m looking forward to seeing you at one or all of them soon!
