Our Online Gallery Is Ready When You Are!

Welcome once again to the 2012.13 school year! I am happy to be working with Miscoe students in grade 5 & 6 this year, and am excited to introduce you to a new program from Artsonia. Artsonia is run by the National Art Education Association, of which I am a member. Artsonia is an online gallery for student art. I have created an Artsonia gallery and would like to post your child’s art for you to see. By doing so, you can see your child’s art and share the link with your family and friends, and I can share with the art education community what we are doing in school. I expect that the children will be proud to have their work on display.

Please know that this is a secure site. Students are identified by their first name (only – NEVER last names) followed by a number. You will receive an email when your child’s art is on display. At that time you may purchase items imprinted with your child’s art. If you do so, my art room will receive 20% of what you spend. The money will go to iPads for the art room.

I was fortunate to be part of the iPad pilot last year. These mobile learning devices are wonderful tools to open up the world of art for our students. There is so much we can do on the iPad that meets our art curriculum. My goal is to acquire a class set of iPads for the 5/6 art room. Within the next day or two, you will receive a permission slip via email from Artsonia. Once you receive the email, please log on to site to grant permission I can not publish your child’s art without your permission. Participation in this program is completely optional and not required. Please do not feel pressured in any way. While we are waiting for Artsonia to be in touch with you, please visit the website:  http://www.artsonia.com/parents/ to get a feel for the program.
