365 iPad Drawings/My Year Creating Digitally: All in One Gallery
Alice Matthews Gentili
Because you wanted to see all 365 iPad drawings together in one gallery…and so did I. Here they are exactly as published. I was taking this project literally day-by-day, therefore the information I shared with the drawings changed throughout the year. I admit I got a little carried away with alpacas near the end. You’ll see…
Day #1: Draw a shoe
Day 2: Draw a lamp – this is my desk lamp at school. We have fluorescent lights in the ceiling. I keep this lamp on my desk for when I need light while showing a video. I got it at Pier 1 for $10…such a deal – App: ArtRage

This is a folding measuring stick that I bought several years ago at Mass MOCA. It is a favorite tool not only because I use it all the time, but because it reminds me of my father. I would borrow my father’s tools all the time when I was a kid. He had one of these that had been my grandfather’s. I always liked it. Although that one is gone, I was happy to find this one in the museum store…
Day 17: Draw a musical instrument
App: ArtRage using metallic oil pastel
Kazoo! Although I played the piano for many years and dabbled with the guitar and even the dulcimer(!), kazoos never fail to make me feel joyous…whether in art school long ago or with my son when he was little. I kazoo…do you?
Day 18: Draw the view from a window of your house, apartment, office, etc.

Over tea and talk she taught me to knit…☕

One of my goals is to buy and eat more fruit this year. The fact that I do not have any fruit with me to draw right now is less of a reflection on my success in meeting my goals than it is a fact of traveling. I used a painting by Cathleen Rehfeld as a reference for this painting…
Feb 19: Draw the entryway to your home

He described Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon with awe and expressed regret that I had not witnessed them while at my rustic camp. In the letter I wrote back to my dad I excitedly described how a TV was brought into the mess hall where all the campers and counselors gathered together and stayed up late watching the historical event. I still have my dad’s letter and it is one of the most important pieces of mail I have ever received…

For years my son and I spent New Year’s Eve in Rockport with dear friends. After a hearty breakfast the next day we would undertake “the enforced march”… a 3 to 5 mile loop around the town. We would stop at the beach to pick up some rounded rocks. Everyone pitched in to carry as many as they could. After a few years and a lot of rocks later, my son and friends used them to create a “Roxaboxen” in the woods in our backyard. All these years later these 2 rocks remain. So many memories with this drawing today!
